National Brand, Local Impact
GEICO, one of the largest and most recognized insurance companies in the United States, selected Amherst as the site of a major operational facility following a competitive, multi-state site selection process. The result was a $24.1 million investment in the construction of a 251,455-square-foot, single-tenant facility at 300 CrossPoint Parkway—now a cornerstone of regional employment and economic stability.

A Strategic Location Backed by State Incentives
The project’s location was eligible for Empire Zone benefits, a New York State program designed to attract private investment through tax credits based on job creation and capital expenditures. This designation helped position Amherst as a compelling alternative to other national sites under consideration. The project aims to:
- Anchors a national brand in a high-visibility location.

- Capitalizes on state incentives that reward long-term job creation.

Strengthening Amherst’s Business Landscape
Transforming Land Into a Job Center
GEICO’s decision to build in Amherst speaks to the region’s appeal for national companies seeking cost-effective, talent-rich environments. The facility not only brings quality employment opportunities to local residents but also activates a formerly underused parcel of land in a strategic business corridor.
A Long-Term Investment in People and Place
Founded over 80 years ago, GEICO continues to grow its national footprint by investing in communities that align with its operational and workforce needs. Amherst now plays a central role in that vision, hosting one of the company’s largest employment centers outside of its Virginia headquarters.
This project demonstrates how thoughtful public-private partnerships can convert opportunity into tangible results—delivering economic strength, career opportunities, and sustained value to the region.
